The traditional path never made sense to me
At 13, I landed my first client. Around the same time, I realized school wasn't teaching me what I actually needed to know. A few years later, I dropped out of high school and started learning by doing.
I worked at agencies, ran usability tests, designed interfaces. Projects like building visitfinland.com for the Finnish Government or creating the first digital document storage system for UNIQA, one of Austria's largest insurance companies.
Combining my visual design expertise with what I've learned during the more research-heavy projects, starting a business of my own was the natural next step.
In January 2009, I started saismo to help companies build profitable products with exceptional user experiences. I've worked with clients around the world, some of whom have raised hundreds of millions.
Running appointmed
In 2016, I launched appointmed. Like most bootstrapped SaaS companies, the early years were rough. But we kept at it. By 2024, we hit €1M in annual recurring revenue with a tiny team of just seven people. And we've grown revenue significantly and steadily since then.
Sharing What I Learn
Running a small, profitable company for nearly a decade taught me that growth doesn't have to mean raising funding or hiring fast. Sometimes the better path is slower and steadier.
That's why I started writing. Through the Slow & Steady newsletter, I share my thoughts on building sustainable businesses: How to stay calm while running a company, what actually works, and how to create exceptional service for customers. I also work with other founders who want to build differently.
