People often ask why we don’t “scale” our business. We have the traction, the product-market fit is clearly there, and the logical next step seems to be to “make it big,” right?
The answer to that was always hard to articulate, so I started reflecting on what “success” means to me personally:
Doing exceptional work.
On my own schedule.
With a tiny, self-managing team.
That gives a shit about the work.
Without drama, egos, or politics.
While being highly profitable.
That’s the dream.
That’s my vision of a unicorn business, and it might be just as rare as the billion-dollar startup.
